Indoor Fountain - Read This if You are Just Starting Out

There are many spaces inside a home where you can use an indoor water fountain. Living rooms, bedrooms, partially open spaces such as patios. Also office and hotel lobbies are also great for using this amazing accessory.

There are basically 5 types of indoor water fountains.

1) Tabletop water fountain.
2) Floor water fountain.
3) Wall mounted indoor fountain.
4) Garden Courtyard water fountain (for partially closed spaces)
5) Waterfalls (for partially closed spaces)

Depending upon the volume of space to be decorated and other accessories already used to decorate the interior space a water fountain can be selected.

What are the requirements to install a water fountain?

Before we can answer this we must first see that what are the various components of a indoor fountain. It contains a water reservoir, a submersible pump that runs on electricity, a hose pipe that carries the water from reservoir to upper level, (from where it drops down) and finally the environment or cascade through which the water falls.

The submersible water pump consumes something around 120 volts. Precaution should always be taken to see that the pump remains dipped in water all of the time. If the pump is run dry it can get damaged.

Those who have already used an indoor fountain in their homes talk about some of the following problems that can occur at some point of time during the use.

1)Noise of the pump.

Actually a silent pump can not exist but the noise can be reduced substantially if the pump rests on shock absorbent material such as cork/rubber. Both these materials are water proof hence are durable even in water.

2)Water being contaminated overtime.

This is quite a common problem. The water in reservoir at the bottom gets pumped at the top and drops down because of gravity again in the reservoir. The only loss of water is because of evaporation. The water can become unclean because of growth of algae. If the water doesn't contain any living creatures such as fish or turtles etc. then adding little chlorine bleach to the water has shown good results with some people.

While selecting the pump for the fountain you must take care to see how much water it can lift per hour. For smaller pump this number varies from 200 to 500 liters/hour. Normally the pump which has been designed to run in water should NEVER be run dry or can get damaged.

A good water pump will also have the capacity to control the amount of water flow flowing out at the top. Depending upon the amount of water flowing out, the beauty of fountain will change. For example do you want a water fall type of fountain or a water curtain or small droplets of water like in rain. This final appearance will decide the amount of water that should flow and the pump should have that kind of mechanism to keep it in control.

The environment through which water flows can have infinite shapes and sizes. Actually sky is the limit to design the kind of environment through which the water will flow. Ceramic is a very creative and commonly used material for constructing fully water bearable environment.

Tiffany Lamps: Contemporary and Unique

In this day and age, lighting comes in an infinite number of shapes, styles, and colors. Choosing the right lamp to fit your interior design is key to tying your spaces together, and blending the many design influences you reviewed while dreaming of your new décor. Contemporary design is one of the most difficult, yet rewarding styles to decorate, with clean lines, plush textures, and a spot of color. However, few people consider the possibility of looking back in design, to find inspiration for forward thinking style. Tiffany lamps are timeless, and can act not only as lighting in your space but also as artwork. Consider a contemporary Tiffany lamp before you discount the past in your modern room.

Proving that contemporary design never goes out of style, Tiffany lamps, and reproductions live on in many homes of today. A man ahead of his time, Louis Tiffany began crafting colored glass lamps in 1894, and acquired many influential clients who inspired his design. As functional as they are beautiful, Tiffany lamps stood out from the crowd at the turn of the century, by placing a spot of art in a home's décor, as well as diffusing harsh direct light throughout the room. Contemporary Tiffany lamps can do the same in your space today. Place lamps in entryways to greet guests with style, and warm glowing light, or in a child's room for a touch of innocent whimsy.

Abstract contemporary Tiffany lamps using colorful interpretations of plants and culture work best in modern spaces. Similar to modern art, they can add color and interest, while working in conjunction with the rest of your décor. Fashionable design requires a blending of style, creating an eclectic feel all your own. Tiffany lamps do just that, by anchoring your fresh style to the foundation of the modern movement, nearly a century ago. Since contemporary design implies a past, present and future, it is best to pull these elements into your space to secure the success of your design.

Not only do contemporary Tiffany lamps offer color, but also texture, another fundamental point of modern design. Hand crafted by the most skilled of workers, imperfections in glass color, or the ornate metal work add to the appeal of a timeless contemporary Tiffany lamp. These small details capture light, and scatter it gently into any area, leaving the room awash with shadows, emphasizing textures, and highlighting colors. Combine this effect with clean lines, and open floor plans, and your eclectic, modern room will come together.

Regardless of the lamp style you choose for your modern home, consider taking a step back in design to come up with your contemporary solution. Contemporary Tiffany lamps can fill your dark space with light and beauty while providing a design solution as well. Many contemporary Tiffany lamps come in different fixture styles to add lighting options while still tying your space together.

Things To Consider For A Functional Living Room Design

Amazingly most people starting out have no idea how they would like their living room design to turn out. In fact, most people buy a home on the looks of the kitchen, and the bathroom according to popular consensus. So what does this say about living room design? It says that people are not thinking about it enough, and thus find themselves without a viable living room decorating plan at move in time.

When planning for a living room design treatment, think of the entire family's needs. If you are single, it would be an easy thing to do to think of your needs, however, most homeowners have some type of family, or roommate situation to consider. Thus, it is first necessary to look at their needs, before designing your idea of a perfect living room.

Questions to consider when developing a plan for your family living room design include use, space, and location.

Some living room design elements are basic due to the lack of use of the room. We've all seen those living room design elements with one sofa, covered in plastic that almost never gets touched. If this is your proposed use for the room, keep the design basic, and costs low. If, however, you are truly going to live, in the living room, it is important to look at the space itself before doing a final living room design.

Space can be defined as the parameters of the room in terms of length, width, and height. Most living rooms are large, sometimes the largest in the house. Therefore plan accordingly for the size of the living room when doing your living room design.

Location is another important element to think about when doing a living room design. If the room is located between two bedrooms, this might be reason not to install the surround sound that your child wants. Or if the room is located near the backyard, it may not make sense to install white carpet. Whatever the case, think carefully about the location of the living room, before performing a living room design plan.

Great Home Interior Design Ideas for those on a Budget

Who does not want a lovely home with beautiful decors and wonderful interiors? Perhaps only a hermit would want to keep his dwelling as austere as possible. You, on the other hand, would want to keep your place nice and charming - very conducive for living.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are afraid of updating their interior design because of the dreaded costs of redecorating their living space. However, this is not actually true because there are many great ideas that could help you beautify your room without you having to sacrifice your budget.

Here are some great home interior design ideas that you may follow if you want to rev up a room that has been having the same look for ages.

- Reorganize your furniture. By changing the positions of your furniture, your room can achieve an entirely new look. Try changing the angles of fixtures or pulling them away from where they are now to update the dimension and look of the room.

- Paint your walls. Paint can come quite cheaply nowadays, and you can totally change the look of a room by painting the walls. You can make the change so radical, that it would really become a great transformation. You may even just some accents like straight lines, or stencil patterns to enhance the appearance of boring walls. You will be surprised as to how great the possibilities can be.

- Let Mother Nature in. You can freshen up any room by bringing plants. This can also help freshen the air as well as plants are known to filter the atmosphere. If you do not have time to take care of plants, then you could have artificial leaves and flowers. Having a touch of green makes the room so much pleasing to the eyes.

- Add a simple rug. Area rugs can create a soft touch in a room. A rug can add a piece for the eye to look at, making a very boring room more interesting to look at. Look for brilliant colors that still complement the motif of the room for that jazzy accentuation.

- Hang mixed frames on your wall. A picture frame collage could spice up any naked wall. Picture frames also add a sense of coziness and warmth especially if they contain photos of your loved ones.

- Change bathroom fixtures and fittings. You do not really have to remodel your entire bathroom to achieve a new look. You can just change the faucets or the flush handles, you can add some vanity lights or mirrors, and you would witness a dramatic change in your bathroom.

- Add new lamps. Bringing in light to any room adds warmth and a glowing presence that can make a gloomy room become full of life. Use interesting shades if you want something trendy.

- Replace the pulls and knobs of your closets. Just like with bathrooms, you do not really have to change fixtures to change a room's look. Just change the handles and knobs of your cabinets and you can totally transform the entire room. You could go modern and use chrome or stainless steel; you may also go classic by installing brass or bronze.

- If you have the budget, install new wallpaper. Just like, paint, wallpapers can really update the look of your room. Nothing is crisper than a newly wallpapered wall. If you do not have enough money to wallpaper the entire room, you can just put wall paper borders to add interesting accents to your living space.

Decorating your home need not be expensive. With these great home interior design ideas, you can make your house as good as new.
